Why Professional Education Resources?
We at Professional Education Resources, LLC understand that you have many choices for Minnesota Contractors Continuing Education to spend your hard-earned money on, and there are even some free course offerings! So why should you consider choosing ProEd for your MN Contractor CE?
ProEd believes that three things should be considered when choosing an education provider.
- Content
- Instructors' knowledge base
- Price
Content
The State of Minnesota dictates Continuing Education Providers to provide content in accordance with the requirements for education placed on licensed contractors which is as follows.
Each licensed contractor is to attend a minimum of 14 credit hours which includes course content that demonstrates significant intellectual or practical content and deal with matters directly related to the practice in the regulated industry, workforce safety, or the business of running a company in the regulated industry (MN § 326B.0981 Subd. 3. (1)). Courses may also address the professional responsibility or ethical obligations of a licensee related to work in the regulated industry, which includes one hour of continuing education relating to energy codes or energy conservation measures applicable to residential buildings and one hour of business management strategies applicable to residential construction businesses (MN § 326B.821 Subd. 21). Under Minnesota Statute § 326B.821 Subd. 21. requires a Residential Building Contractor, Remodeler, and Roofer complete and report one hour of continuing education relating to energy codes or energy conservation measures applicable to residential buildings and one hour of business management strategies applicable to residential construction businesses during each two-year continuing education reporting period.
All things being equal, this is a pretty low bar to attain for any education provider. What makes ProEd stand out among our competitors is our collective understanding as to what a licensed contractor faces on a daily basis, which leads us to the second category.
Instructors Knowledge Base
Instructors Greg Olson, Barry Stranz, and Jeannie Olson are the heart and soul of ProEd! Each is an expert in their respective fields of Residential Construction, all three instructors have worked as licensed Residential Contractors in the State of Minnesota. Currently, all three work as construction business consultants, act as expert witnesses in residential lawsuits, as well as provide consultation in layout, design, and code compliant construction techniques. Both Barry Stanz and Greg Olson have sat for and passed the Minnesota Limited Building Officials Exam and passed, as well as being named and seated on Minnesota Code Steering Committees. Greg Olson is currently a licensed building official, and one of the few Minnesota approved content providers that holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, and regularly provides Education Seminars to Minnesota Licensed Building Officials.
Using their collective understanding of the daily demands placed upon residential contractors; Greg, Barry, and Jeannie create unique continuing education content that not just meets the requirements of Minnesota Statute but content that goes above and beyond and creates content that directly affects the licensed contractor's ability to succeed in their business endeavors.
Price
As stated above, the licensed contractor has many choices for obtaining contractor continuing education credits, ranging from courses that are put on by other education companies, trade associations, and lumber yards, some of these courses are even advertised as “free,” but as a business owner you know that these course offerings are not free but merely a line item of their advertising budget which you have contributed to by purchasing product from them. Does this make the educational credits worthless, no. In fact, ProEd routinely contracts with Lumber Yards to provide these “free” educational seminars for their customers.
ProEd understands you work hard for the money you earn and strives to provide you with timely, impactful content that will help you succeed in the construction business. While ProEd does not provide free courses, ProEd manages course offerings, locations, and lunch menus to keep the cost to you the consumer as low as possible.
